Although the Boston Red Sox have moved out of the City of Palms Park, the stadium continues to host events over 120 days of the year. Jeff Mielke, Executive Director at Lee County Sports Authority, discussed other uses of the City of Palms Park. "Now it might not be the thrones and masses of people," Mielke said, "its not 7,800 people filling it up for a Red Sox's game." The economy of Lee County still feels the impact of those smaller events including amateur baseball tournaments, Minnesota Twins overflow games, and New York Mets' fall instructional league. |
